Mokha 1450
Part boutique, part coffee shop, Mokha 1450 is an intimate setting with exceptional coffee. With experienced staff who are passionate about their product, this trendy cafe is best suited for an extended visit, rather than a latte to-go. The impressive and extensive menu covers a huge range of brewing techniques, single origin beans and clever blends, with each item described in detail.
What's behind the name? Mokha 1450 is inspired by the earliest emergence of coffee culture in Arabia and Ethiopia. Sufi monks documented their experiences with the coffee bean and 15th-century texts reveal how the drink emerged from Ethiopia and was transported across the region via Mokha, a port city on the Red Sea.
Coffee lovers can savour an heirloom Ethiopian geisha coffee, Jamaican blue mountain ultra-premium beans or an incredible brew from the Sabri Mountains, farmed by a co-operative of female farmers – among many others. The boutique-cafe makes for an ideal stop on a cultural day out in Jumeirah, offering ancient traditions and aromatic brews.
