Goldfish Sushi & Yakitori

This cool, contemporary Japanese-inspired restaurant comes from chef Akmal Anuar, a popular name among Dubai foodies who is also behind Michelin-starred 11 Woodfire.

The eatery offers authentic flavours in a relaxed setting, and the menu at this low-key spot in Galleria Mall includes loads of tasty robata grills as well as excellent sushi. The elongated space has minimalistic interiors and a small outdoor section that's usually packed in the winter months.

A large majority of this spot's ingredients are sourced from Japan and this is evident from their flavour-packed dishes like yellowtail ceviche with black pepper and wagyu yakitori skewers. Unlike many other spots offering the same cuisine, you won't find any soy on the tables here, as  modern Asian chef Anuar and his team ensure each dish includes just the right amount. 

Highlights include fresh salmon dressed in a light citrus-soy, fatty tuna nigiri, chicken teriyaki sliders and unagi rolls, which pairs smoky eel with creamy avocado. Don't leave without sampling their matcha meringue dessert too.
